PRINCIPALS

SWA's extensive and internationally based team of professionals is lead by three highly experienced Architects.

SIMON WOOD RIBA

Simon completed his formal education at the University of Sheffield, UK in 1987 and has concentrated his professional career within the tourism and resort development markets in and around the Caribbean ever since. He has overseen design work for projects all over the region including Florida, Bahamas, Mexico, Cuba, St. Lucia, Jamaica, Panama, St. Kitts, Grenada, Mustique, Martinique and Colombia as well as the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Simon moved with his family to the Turks and Caicos islands in 1990 and established LPW Architects. He successfully managed this company until incorporating Simon Wood Associates Ltd. (SWA) in November 1995.

Simon, has always been inspired by his younger fellow professionals and believes that SWA's unwavering solid reputation is a result of a hardworking team with a youthful approach guided by experienced hands.

SIMON HUTCHINGS RIBA

Simon completed his formal education at the University of Huddersfield, UK in 1993 and moved to the Turks & Caicos Islands in 1998 to join SWA.

As design and project architect for The Villa Renaissance, The Regent Grand, Graceway House as well as multiple bespoke private villas, Simon has eamed a reputation locally not only for his design skill and attention to detail but also as a level headed and trusted professional who will always "get the job done".

Simon remains excited about the future and is particularly motivated by the challenge of developing innovative sustainable contemporary design solutions that hold true to traditional values of scale, proportion and locally relevant materials.

RORY STEVENS RIBA

Rory completed his formal education at the University of Sheffield, UK in 1995. Rory originally joined SWA as a trainee Architect in 1996, becoming intimately involved in the design of the now famous, award winning Point Grace Resort. After a three year spell back in the UK expanding his hospitality experience designing travel hotels and motorway service areas; Rory, missing the sunshine headed back to TCI to rejoin SWA

Since that time, Rory has taken the lead on many of SWA's most prestigious projects including Wymara Resort and most recently "The Point" an expanded resort master plan associated with the original Point Grace.

Rory believes a successful project is always the result of a combination of knowledge, technical skill, a sensitive appreciation of local topographical, climatic, and social conditions, teamwork, and an understanding that clients' dreams are temporarily ours to take care of, but theirs forever.
