Valhead villa

Located on a ridge lot in Long Bay Hills, we positioned the villa at the back of the lot to take full advantage of the dramatic topography and spectacular views across the Salinas towards the sunset.

Built for use as a private family getaway as well as a unique vacation rental property, the design sets out to create both a home away from home whilst offering maximum flexibility for rental opportunities and repeat visitors.

Through careful interpretation of planning codes and site topography we were able to balance the one storey cottage element, comprising the living areas, with a three storey private wing containing three identical open concept bed/bath suites. These two elements are connected by a third link element comprising a staircase which winds around and through a solar chimney which helps to passively ventilate and cool the villa.

The architecture draws on the Bermudian influence on TCI vernacular presenting a timeless home, modernized using inexpensive materials to present contemporary style interiors, maximizing the available budget.
